KAZAK Dated 1911
Three Medallion Design
Inscription: ASAK P. and ARP.1911 TIV

This classic Kazak is extremely regular and straightforward. The weaver has permitted herself only a little free expression by including a confronted pair of crested birds in the first medallion. As with most rugs of this tradition, the color balance is subperb. This rug likely commemorates a wedding. the cryptic inscription names an man and a woman, Asak and Arpen, and the greek "P" following Asak's name is the initial letter of the Armenian word for bridegroom.
