Fireplace Room

As you enter the Fireplace Room from the Old Mill Room, notice the beaded "welcome" sign made of Khar Mohreha, donkey beads. Made of clay with a lapis glaze, the beads are traditionally woven into donkey or horse blankets to avert the evil eye and keep away bad luck. The tradition is that if the eye sees something of beauty, it won't see the temptations of the world. Built over the old garage, the Fireplace Room holds 10' x 14' large room-sized rugs, interesting wall hangings and square rugs of all sizes. When the room was built in the 60's, a large native fieldstone fireplace was built for warmth. Now it is simply adorned with antique artifacts gathered on Gregorian travels to the Middle East. The popular Trash or Treasures lectures are held in the Fireplace Room.
